Xijun Liao

Born in Beijing, China, Xijun “Francis” Liao started studying art and fashion in 2016. As a Beijing & New York based Artist, Francis had spent a long time finding diverse ways to solve social problems with textiles. He is always on the way of recycling yarns from China and remake them into fabrics and textiles. Creating a broad project about wool sustainability is what he is currently trying to achieve in 5 years.

Designing a capsule material collection based on Mongolian’s traditional and sustainable wool textiles will provide varied possibilities such as employing 3-dimensional knitting and deconstruction. Liao is hoping that his collection can not only introduce sustainable wool textiles but also help my audiences know more about the environmental problems in their area.
