INSOMNIA fabricates the intertwined relationship between glamour and pain. As I continue to struggle with severe insomnia, the collection explores my battle with sleep deprivation through the creation of enchanting femme fatale characters. Instead of lingering on the negative side effects of my struggles, the work celebrates life obstacles as a place for creative strength, as well as a vindictive journey towards insomnia that comes from pain and darkness I have experienced. Insomnia is like a black dog chasing me in a dark when the night comes, a shadow following me through my vivid and broken dream that I could not get rid of. I want to end the panic, the fear, and the hopelessness through a glorious fantasy. This collection is a true luxury of fashion with lots of pleating techniques which requires hours of delicate hand-sewing. Each piece took at least took 15 hours of hand sewing, some may be 20+. Laser cutting technology is also used here, to create customized print on silk organza with my personal writings of shouting out for help for insomnia.
