Encounter

Five years ago, I left my homeland and arrived on a strange continent. The unfamiliar environment made me anxious. My only happiness was to take an hour's subway to visit galleries and museums in Washington D.C. To me, time and space are meaningless in a museum. Exhibits have been treated carefully by museum staff members no matter what or where was it from.
I collected brochures from all the museums I've been to. This fantasy deeply influenced me and inspired me to transform my feelings and impressions into a fashion collection.

Research Process

I studied photos of the exhibits that I took before from my perspective, a visitor. Then I researched videos and books from museums, who observed the exhibits from a perspective as a restorer, preserver, and collector.
I recorded the whole process and showed it in my selection of fabrics, design of prints, and sketching of silhouettes. I will utilize this collection to tell my fanciful encounters with museums.

The Idea of Framing

I studied photos of the exhibits that I took before from my perspective, a visitor. Then I researched videos and books from museums, who observed the exhibits from a perspective as a restorer, preserver, and collector.
I recorded the whole process and showed it in my selection of fabrics, design of prints, and sketching of silhouettes. I will utilize this collection to tell my fanciful encounters with museums.
I explored the repetition elements. Just like in a museum, different paintings were displayed in one room, forming a kind of overlapping. After photoshopping frames on my model, I sketched out a geometric pattern based on the shapes I got.

Prints Design

I looked for common features of lace and decorative frames. Using the method of collage, pick parts of the pattern in the frame, and designed a few new prints.
